| Saturday 17 October Ride
Any one up for the Lowman loop or something else? The weather will be nice on Saturday and I'm thinking this may be my last time this season. Meet at Beacon Chevron 11:00 and depart at 11:30. Ride the loop for one last time this season. Stops in GV, Lowman, IC, and Gowen Chevron. |

Isn't Lowman still all gravely from lastweeks reports? I'd like to take a ride on Saturday, but not on roads that are setup for failure.

I'd love to go, but I have to be at work in Garden City at 4 PM. How long does the loop usually take? Also, after Idaho City was really sandy.

Lots of sand between Lowman and IC. I have a crew meeting at 10am @ Starbucks in Eagle for a ride to Owyhee Resevior if any of you want to poach it. Plan on a moderate PACE ride.

| Does Starbucks mind if I drop my starter cart off the night before? Hope they have a place to plug in tire warmers, too.

I Ride: 01 TL1000R | I just got a text about 3 riders who will be meeting at my place to come w/ me. It'd still be nice to know how many other people you think are coming in your crew.

Unknown quantity. But so far I have enlisted 4 ducati riding, espresso sipping elitists, and one fascist BMW rider who has webbed feet. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...81839&t=h&z=11 |

Get a GoldWing rider to attend and you'll achieve the elusive hat-trick of snootiness.

Joel, if you want to do a simple ride there are a couple of us that might put together for Lake Lowell and Map Rock. not the best ride in the valley, but running a little later for anyone who wants to go.

Duckller if you take Simplot Blvd. to Wilder and take Peckham Rd just past the big gas station.Peckham will take you clear to the bridge by Adrian.Lots less cops but beware of mud on the road from the farm machinery.

Still riding tomorrow, I'm up for something else if the group wants to ride to some other destination. As of now the plan is for Lowman Loop. The weather is good, get out and ride.

with all the hunters traveling thru there i would think the sand should be almost gone anyway thru the lowman loop. good possibility i will be there.....i think the roads will be ok....but i know those are famous last words "I THINK"

| Do you know for sure the roads are crappy? I'm open for anything, the ride you are going on is a new one to me. It doesn't matter to me where I ride to. I just want to get some ass end of the season in. After I put the bike away I won't be riding again until next July |

I don't know for certain the roads are crap on Lowman, but it's been mentioned more than once about the potential risk of gravel. See the post above if you're interested. This one will be a new one for me also, and there are 12 people coming already.

Wow james you can find just about every excuse not to ride. I dont like rain, There might be sand and gravel, People dont look for bikes in weather other than sunshine. Have you ever heard the saying adapt and overcome, Like stubby said slow down and enjoy your ride. Granted dry 90 degree weather is ideal for knee dragging riding is a joy in life that if you really love you will learn to enjoy it anytime not just when the elements are perfect. Do they shut the tracks down due to rain or cooler weather? If you dont ride like a jackass and you pay attention a ride in any conditions (other than snow and ice) can be safe fun and very rewarding

What are you talkin about bro? I just said i'm going on duckllr's ride tomorrow morning w/ a decent group of people already. 4 of us are meeting at my house for breakfast, any bike mainenance then meeting at Starbucks in Eagle @ 10am. See post #25 I'm not trying to sound like some pussy because those that have ridden w/ me know my fatass isn't shy on the throttle, but a majority of these roads i've never been on before and people still wreck in sand and gravel on slow rides. Jason wasnt going stupidly fast when he wrecked and the roads were clear, on top of something he's ridden before. I saw him in the hospital and on crutches at Lee's place...i'm trying to avoid that ###t as much as possible. If I knew the area better i'd be more cool w/ gravely roads, but since i've really only been to HSB/Emmett(twice now) and IC(once, when Rhonda wrecked), everything i'm gonna take w/ caution until I know where i'm going. Hell, maybe my new bike has something to do w/ it Last edited by m5james; 10-16-2009 at 07:55 PM. |

I haven't seen anything concrete for Lowman, so hopefully something pans out for that one. From the map that duckllr posted, this is going to be like a 5hr ride total. Either way, have a good one.

K, but increasing the odds of me wreckin my ###t in the rain or gravel, especially when I've got a passenger, isn't of interest to me. Maybe I'm just a big pussy, but I like it better when the odds are at least slightly in mt favor. At this point w/ Gem State's pic, I'm I don't know what the hell to do. I just got of the phone w/ one of the guys from my group, and just as I told him, I haven't done enough rides around here to know which is better or worse. If I was in Seattle I'd be EASILY meeting 40-50 riders at Renton Motorcycles and I'd know every road to take w/o even thinking about it. Here I don't have that privelege, but its annoying coming to these forums and no one can make a concrete plan and/or people make a suggestion post then disappear leaving us that aren't certain up in the air. I'll have people meeting at my place around 9 to work on our figures and I'll be on my phone checkin this thread all night, so we'll see what happens since my group doesn't really seem to care where we go either.
