I Ride: 2009 Yamaha R6 | Sunday 10/18 Group Ride; Leave Meridian @ 10 a.m.
Riding to Payette, Weiser, Cambridge - then off to Oxbow Dam and then back 10:45 a.m. KSU @ the Flying J in Caldwell @ the I-84 Exit (I believe that is Chinden/I-84) (corrected Franklin/I-84) Meet at Lynn's @ 10 a.m. if you want to join the ride to Flying J, otherwise meet @ Flying J at 10:45 a.m. Lunch hopefully at the little cafe heading to Oxbow, otherwise in Cambridge. TBD (will need head count so I can call ahead) If you want b-fast Sunday a.m. again boys and girls - IM me and we can get that going. Last edited by ChrisXAppleSauce; 10-16-2009 at 03:43 PM. |

Negative. It's I-84 and Franklin. Right off the CALDWELL FRANKLIN EXIT, not the Nampa one guys and gals.

Wasn't planning on taking freeway.... I want a different route, we always go through Emmett (and last time when we went through Emmett from New Plymouth (through that stretch of road) - the cops are in undercover Durangos - and like to pull people over Planning on going the back way from Caldwell -through notus, parma, fruitland, payette, weiser, etc. If people want to go through Emmett and meet up in Payette - go ahead - and we can set a time to meet there. |

Friendly Suggestions for Food: - TIPS is a great place for biscuits and gravy - its right off 95, behind Burger King, on Hwy 95. - Meehan's down on Main - great breakfast food as well. - Dolphie's in Fruitland (behind El Tenampa/Jiffy Lube at Gayway Junction) - you'd be rolling through there right around "Lunch Buffet" time (11-2 I think) - they have pizza, fried chicken, bread/cheese sticks, etc. Not sure if I will make this ride, but used to live in Payette, and worked at Dolphies (best pizza I have ever had) so thought I'd give my on possible places to eat |

Is there a head count yet? Maybe start making a list people can add their names too. I'd like to see another new route i've never been on before.

Great ride. That section going down by Oxbow Dam was really fun. Why can't we have stuff like that a little closer? Have to do it again sometime.

Great ride. Roads were over-all very good. Won't be doing any Iron Butt for awhile - a bit sore! Not a drop of rain, yay! Next year we should do this again in May / June before it starts cooking out there. Gonna good tonight.

Most definately. As I said, the first 1/3 sucked ass, but each section got better and better. My front tire...DONE! Thanks to all that came. Apparently there was a fire (aka rush) to leave Flying J and Maverick since I came outside the store and everyone was already geared up and ready to leave but I was able to squeeze in my first set of pics at our second stop, the Maverick station (not sure which town).

First pic is our stop before we hit the road to Oxbow Dam. Second pic is while Linker, Liteone and I were waiting..and waiting...and waiting at the T intersection before Oxbow. We were chasing some cruisers, who were hands down hauling ass!! Apparently we were a little too fast for everyone else (not just you TJD ). We got gas, potty brakes, then started to head back to see if someone had gotten into a wreck or something. Apparently they stopped and ate w/o us, we hadn't yet, so we went and ate while they went to the dam. I had no idea that we'd ridden that far to get into the Pacific Time Zone! BTW - TJD, you'll have to send me or attach some pics here as I've never been to the damn and would like to have seen it. Third pic is us finally all back in one group at the cafe before we started the ride back. All in all, another awesome stretch of roads once we got past the boring 1/3 (Payette?) of the ride. Doing that area around the dam again is definately something to do next summer. Linker, get those cameras working so we can get some action shots! Last edited by m5james; 10-18-2009 at 06:58 PM. |

I do feel bad that you guys didn't eat with us. I thought about it quite a lot while we were there, but we honestly thought that you were going to turn around sooner to find the lost group. Our bad. Now - no offense taken by the pokes at my speed, and certainly no problemo, but I guess it's time to explain a little something about my riding style. After today's ride, and having lots of fun in the corners without any tire step out issues (like I had on the 250), I can say that my bike and my level of fear has nothing to do with why I ride where I do. I take the back so that everyone else can ride to their comfort level, and have the best time possible on "their" own rides. I limit myself to at most 10 over posted because it's the level of risk I personally am willing to take. A ticket for going 100 on a 65 (not saying anyone does this) would be devastating to my finances in increased insurance, and frankly, I have no more fun going 85 than I do going 65. Hey, I like going 55 for God's sake. So - I love riding with this group (sincerely) and am happy to "meet-up" at the stops to BS and whatever. I won't, however, be stepping up the speed when it's not to my benefit. Everyone ride your own ride, and everyone will be happy. | |

Thom, I'm just playin w/ ya, you know that By all means, I want everyone to ride where they're comfortable. Linker, Liteone and I were telling me about you or someone else who used to ride a 250 also. It was good to have you along again, don't take my pokes as insult, I'm always like that. You can start callin me fatkid like everyone else does and we'll call it even LOL.
