Was planning to motel it in Grangeville a few weeks ago, but rainstorms
forced us to cancel the ride. Anyway, we were going to stay at the

Another option I thought I'd mention. Just outside of Grangeville is a place called Bear Den RV Resort. They have these little cabins with bunk beds http://www.beardenrv.com/campcabins.htm nothing fancy but cheaper than hotels if I remember correctly. I've used them several times on rides when I was planning to camp but it was pouring rain.

I Ride: Retired

I just got off a week long middle fork of the Salmon float trip. We stayed the night in Salmon after we pulled off. We stayed at a place called the Wagon Wheel hotel. Its not fancy, but it gets the job done. It cost me $55 (tax included) for a double queen room. You can park your bike RIGHT outside your door and its next to an awesome restaurant called the Shady Nook and a gas station.

We sat in the bar and watched world cup highlights we missed, then walked next door to our rooms after heavy drinking.

The roads were fine, I didn't notice any dirt or debris to speak of, but it will be hot as hell in the next week or two I would imagine. Really pretty area up there.

Its only 200 miles more once we get to Grangeville. Just ride home...3 hours and your home...

This is what we and a couple others are doing [I believe Eric is linking off day 3 to head up north?):

Day 1: Make our way to Salmon, eat, drink, and sleep (hopefully we can find something to do, tried to have Lynn ship his fly rods so we can fish the river, but that was out of the question...)

Day 2: Spend the day from Salmon to LoLo to Grangeville, eat, drink, drink some more and sleep (hopefully catch some hot springs along the way)

Day 3: Wake up, eat b-fast, ride down to Riggins (45 miles), either a 9 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. get on a raft to go on a 11 mile small rapid trip, then head back - get on our bikes and attempt to ride for 199 miles back home to Boise.

Who knows if there is a day 4 yet....

If anyone wants to link to go up on day 1 or back on day 3 - feel free.

This ride was amazing! Favorite roads were in central Idaho - curves, curves and more curves.769 miles.
