I suggest to stay as close to the shoulder, or cliff in this case, as possible.

FYI......
there is a parade ride leaving from the same location at approximately the same time. Heading for the Wood River Valley. I am unsure if their plan is to head up ID 21 or down the freeway.

I'm planning on lettin' the traffic clear and leaving from S.E. Boise to do the Lowman loop closer to 10am.

I Ride: on sidewalks if needed.

Was getting firewood down off the mountain and saw you guys at the lodge. I was in the blue toyota truck that pulled down behind the lodge. After I watched you guys take off I unloaded the wood and headed down the mountain. Came upon a wreck about 10 miles from lowman. Turns out a 74 Triumph Bonneville went wide through a left hander. Hit the gaurdrail and endo'd himself right over the side of the road and down quite a ways. He was Lifeflighted out.

The friend I was up helping in Lowman grew up there and after the road cleared we met up with some of the EMT's in GV. Turns out my buddy knew one of them and she told us he was kinda banged up but should be ok.

That's the second bike I've seen that same guard rail bite this year. I wondering what it is about THAT spot, there are sharper turns on that road.

It's a sneaky turn as it doesn't seem as sharp as it turns out to be. I know I've come through there a little hot in a car and had to quickly gather it up to make the turn. Thankfully I recognize it on the bike and know to downshift drop my speed just a bit.

I had a good time yesterday. We picked some more riders as the ride went on then everyone kinda split up in GV. I felt the new ride acquitted itself pretty well for a Harley and it was damn fun to ride. As MissKaos put it, "I've never seen anyone hang off of a Harley like it is a sportbike." I do miss the 12,000 rpm redline of the Yamaha though. Gotta get used to a 7,000 rpm redline. Bounced it off of the rev limiter a few times.

Yep, ran wide in a left and made acquaintance with the guardrail about 30' in front of me. Sad fate for a 3 week old bmw.....

He was bragging about a lot of things and was dressed pretty odd.

I would hope hitting the ground will make him look at schools, tracking, and just generally make him a better rider. Word is, they cost more to toss off, than a Duc.

Most of use have owned a few bikes, smaller bikes, the new BMW is attractive to older wealthier riders who haven't earned their stripes on smaller equipment, they just want to crossover to the "sport."

I've only been riding 7 years, only done 6-7 legal track days, and I've been only be down twice, but really HARD. The literbike is still VERY very challenging and I think it always will be. l I've seen dozens of crashes, only 3 were fatal, but I've seen enough to get a "bad feeling" about a guy just before we blast off

Hate it when I get a "bad feeling" about me, then I have to back way off.

When I looked at that guy I thought he looked familiar. I think he was an inmate when I worked in the prison system. He was a bit of D-bag when he was out there.

It doesn't matter what you ride, what size it is, how much "track" experience you have, how many "schools" you've been to, or how many years you've been riding!
What matters is knowing your limitations.

Don't get me wrong here, knowledge and training can be great tools, but if you don't have a really good grasp on what your riding abilities may or may not be, and your skills in handling the unexpected on the road, sooner or later you may just end up being the subject of some posts here.......or a story on the local news.

And the rest of us just keep ridin' on.......

Nothin' new here, it's just the way it's always been.

I will field this one. So after a life of crime and probably stashing a large amount so he doesnt have to pay restitution from it. He takes that money combined with the $2k he gets from the federal government for topping out his sentence. What you say he gets money for being in prison? Thats right boys and girls he gets $2k from SS for topping out his sentence. Well what is the deterrent from going to prison you ask? Abso###kinglutely nothing. I know because that is my retirement plan. Free health care, 3 squares a day, $2k just for being there, if I retire they can only take half my retirement for restitution, and only having to occasionally dodge a gang rape in the shower. ###k a 401K. After I get out I just might get a S1000RR too and wade it up on Lowman.
