lol...yeah looks like you were having some problems there at first....it got better as it went. Not perfect...but better,

PS...looks like you spent more time working through slower riders than really winding it out.. Hope there is a faster group for you next time

Group B baby..

I had no idea where the track was taking me, kind of disconcerting when you're flat over a crest and trying to remember if it was a left or a right coming up.. More than that though once I figured out the lefts and rights, I didn't know how far back or how tight the next coners were or what happened after etc. I'm ready to go again, but I'm definately going to get a second set of wheels with some sticky rubber.. I came VERY close to a low side (not sure if you caught it in the video) and I had the beginnings of a couple power slides in there as well.. I didn't puker up and I did handle the 'moments' but it made me realise I need some more appropriate equipment..

Absolutely awesome experience and I highly recommend to anyone that 'knows' their bike ~

What kind of rubber are you running? I'm sure you set the air pressure before you hit the track. but if you didn't it can get greasy real quick.

I think the only bikes with mirrors were instructor bikes..

What i did was: remove indicators, remove mirrors, remove fuses for head and tail lights & tape wheel weights..

I have the Metzler Sport Tech M3's, I had the suspension tuned by the famous dude that I can't remember the name of - he recommended that I replace the fork springs with a higher rate but the back was perfect.. The low-siding moment occured before he tuned the bike, after, I just had a slight tendancy for over-steering (rear slides).

He recomended running 34 front and rear (hot), based on my weight and the tires I was running..

Precision was really amazing - all the dudes there were very cool.. During every session I had the chance (and I took it) to hit up an instructor to follow around for a bit..

Was a great learning experience - the biggest thing I learned was that when you find the line the effort required greatly drops and the speed just goes up..!

Awesome, awesome awesome..

Dave Moss is the "Famous Dude" that you had set up your suspension.

He's a suspension God.

When you run the full track at reno you really should shoot for a two day track day. You can work on learning the track the first day and usually by the second day you're comfortable enough to start picking up speed. Fernley's full track has an insane amount of corners compared to most tracks out there.

I'm not saying you're in the same boat, but i've seen a lot of people believe that they need track tires to run faster when in fact they just need better form. some riders will get crossed up and have poor body position which causes the bike to take a steeper angle then it would need to be if they were actually hanging off of the bike. they believe they've got good position but pictures and video footage don't lie.

it was always funny when we'd hit the track for the Seattle 100 and the pro's like Spies, Mladdin, or Danny Eslick would come out and hop on some shops stock bike right from the showroom floor and do exibition laps clocking just a few seconds off of the track record. No slicks, no fancy exhaust systems or computers, etc.... They obviously aren't just your average rider, but if they aren't pushing the limits of stock equipment then me and my buddy's sure the hell aren't.

that being said, i always rode DOT track day tires, so i wouldn't be the guy with the slicks.
