No, everyone goes through with it.

I think he's saying that he thinks it's cool when people finally get out there on the track. It's a stepping stone to better riding skills. It can be intimidating seeing all the fast riders out there though.

Exactly. They may look slow, but they are out on the track while I am standing on the sidelines.

Re: MMP July 13th!

It went awesome!

No wrecks. Not packed. Plenty warm for great traction. Suspension dialed in (as much as possible when stock).
My form was feeling great but I'll have to wait and see pics to know what I was really doing, My inside arm always felt "heavy" meaning it would have a lot of pressure on it, as if it was holding me up much more than it should have been. This is because I need to move my forks down about 2mm. That got me worn out much faster than normal. Other than that the tires gripped amazing, form felt much better, I was taking much better lines. I didn't take a lap timer so I wouldn't feel more pressure to just go fast. I made myself slow down & focus on form and my lines. It felt great. I was pretty happy at the end of the day.

I went out in the B group with Ming a few times. We had a good time showing the B group guys how it's done .

Ming did really good. He improved a lot with each session. We found out that frank thomas sliders MIGHT last 1 20 min session. Ming also had Jason at corporate suspension do his suspension. I'll let Ming tell you what the best $40 you can spend on your bike is.

Ming took some pics. None of us on the track though. We'll have to wait for the photographer to post those online.

Oh and my track plastics melted, bubbled, and smoked a lot! I missed a session lining the bottom of my lower with heat tape. The stock Cat gets too hot for the plastics. Not sure what I'm going to do about that cause the heat tape didn't help much.

....try just eliminating the Cat

FYI, should have the new header hopfully in and on the bike this week, if you are around for the BRN BBQ while I'm there feel free to take the bike out for a spin if you want......I'm not a fan of sitting in a parking lot while someone revs the piss out of my bike just to hear what it sounds like

Well that's more of a stop watch.

I'd like to get that setup... I'm considering it.

I'd like to see what its like.

Re: MMP July 13th!

Glad to hear that fun was had by all. The report I got this morning at work was that it was quite hot out there but crashes were minimal, if not non-existent. I was EXTREMELY jealous yesterday as I was at home and knew you guys were at the track.

And knee puck life is largely dependent on how much pressure you're putting on your knee. AlxandrtheGr8 can burn through a few sets of pucks a day with his style and I can go a whole summer of track riding on a single set which is odd because you'd think the fat guy (me) would put more pressure on my knee in the corners but I usually just skim lightly to keep track of my lean angle.

Hey guys! so ry already has ya updated about the day, but i had to just add, it was awesome!!! there is nothing like the track, you can ride Lowman everyday asnd still never understand how much you and your bike can actually do! also about the knee pucks... lol. went out for my 1st session and literally melted my FT pucks, I'll post pics, there was about an inch of melted puck hanging off the back of the puck itself! so went and bought some kluckys, and second session in, actually ground down an entire set of kluckys! which as most people agree are one of the best pucks you can get... point of this is that after doin this, i knew there was seriously something wrong. i felt that my bike was diving into the apex hard, but wouldn't hold a good line, just kept wantin to lean even if i was accelerating on the throttle, i went and had jason from corparate suspension look at my setup, i already knew my bike was setup for a different rider and i needed my bike setup for me, i told him what was going on, about 3 seconds and $40 later, he told me that he adjusted the sag in front, and the rebound settings in the front and rear. told me to get on the track and see how i liked it. i was still sketched about it costing $40 to turn a couple screws, but right after i my track times dropped by at least 10 seconds, my bike was holding amazing lines, and because my bike wasnt trying to keep laying into the apex anymore, my pucks lasted the rest of the day! $40 to get your suspension set for YOU is the best $40 you can ever spend on your bike!

You were easy to spot Ming. This was in the morning. Question was this before or after your suspension setup?

They set mine up for free when I was there the 2nd of June...
Can't remember the guys name but it was someone Hoz really recommended and liked.
Super guy.

Agreed though... after I got my suspension set for my weight (145 dripping wet) It was a whole new animal. It was great!

good question. i've never seen pics of me riding, so i'm not sure. there isn't a time stamp on any of the pics. and unfortunately they didnt really get any of me in the pm session. only a couple when i was just getting on the track, so 70mph, no lean, just rounding turn 1 to start blastin. oh well. some of the pics turned out real good! i bought the cd so i can check out my form. p.s. it did get better in the afternoon. ryan told me about my upperbody not hangin off the bike as much as it should, so got that fixed. too bad i don't have any pics of it... i really wanted to see how i looked as it felt really good and i was able to take the inside turns in 3rd and wrap it out.

make it to a track day.
jason with corporate suspension is the man! he educated both me and ryan about different setups you can do to help with track or street. its all based on the way you ride. he can look at your tires and make adjustments just by your wear patterns. i never really thought suspension could make as much of a difference as it does, i so i have never looked into it here in boise. good luck on the hunt! and it is totally worth it!

I'm not on the Yellow bike. That was my 06. My plastics aren't painted so I was on a gray bike. I also went in the A group for the first part of the day, then B group with Ming at the end. I'm looking for me now...

Re: MMP July 13th!

Oh and for those that want to setup your suspension, setting your sag is step one and it's simple. Then you can email someone like Jason or Dave Moss and ask them for a starting point, they know where to start based on your bike and your weight.

On The Throttle TV has a good short tutorial about what your sag should be. They don't tell you how to adjust, but will tell you how much you should see both front and rear.

Re: MMP July 13th!

Meh, They don't have any good pics of me! The ones they do have show me with the same form as before so I guess I didn't change it or they didn't get me when I was focused on the new form. I know a good part of the time I wasn't hitting my form how I wanted & I only put in a few fast laps. Ohhh well. I know I felt great when I was getting my form how I wanted so I'm happy with the track day.

As far as I can see, if you didn't like your form in the pics, etc, it's still good. As the saying goes, a bad day at the track is better than a good day at work...or something like that.

LOL true. It was still an awesome day. I still think my form got better the times I was really focused on it. There's one key thing I know I would spot in a picture if I was using the new form. None of them on the site had it though.
