A couple people at work are trying to talk me into that track day. I want to do EVERY track day but have to worry about $$ and scheduling so I'm still looking into it.

Don't know if I'm going or not. Depends on cost. Were you able to get any discount rates on Hotels yet?

Yep. MMP = Miller Motorsports Park. Most of us are too lazy to type the whole thing.

And if anyone needs info about the track day, click the APEX TRACK DAYS logo at the left side of the page. PM me if you want to go and need the discount code.

No racing, just riding. But yeah, back that night. I always drive back after the track day and usually role into town around 11:30 pm or midnight depending on how quickly you load up and how long you take for a meal and gas stop along the way.

Well there are usually 2 people from ISB that make it out. Plus me, Sean, Maybe Matt & Ming. Tydd maybe too? I haven't started calling people yet but I'm guessing about 2 others I can think of may be going as well.

It all depends on the cost of the hotel and if my ass could handle riding down. I'm not participating in the track day but I think it'd be a fun weekend get away for me. It'd be nice to see some skilled people on the track but not worry about who's winning.

Re: MMP July 13th!

so i gotta check my vaca time at work tomorrow but will most likely be able to make it!
quick question. i was browsing the MMP track days or rule book, not sure, but thought it said something about getting endorsed to ride? since i haven't been there before, is this something i have to do in advance? or can i show up, show em my license, and get on the track? i'm sure they show you the do's and don't of the course and all. just want to make sure i don't go down there and can't run my bike on the track.

You don't need a motorcycle license to ride the track, they won't care about that.

What they do care about is that you know track etiquette and procedure so that you're able to ride at high speeds with other bikes without being a risk to others.

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT BEEN ON A TRACK BEFORE:
When you sign up for a track day with Apex Track Days, they have an option for an "FTO" or First Time Orientation. During the FTO, they do some classroom time with you as well as follow the leader riding on the track to teach you.

Another suggestion for anyone who wants to get on the track for the first time:
Take the ART (Advanced Rider Training) course through the Utah Sport Bike Association (http://www.utahsba.com/schools/ART/) and get a full day of instruction on the kart track.
Think the kart track can't be as fun as the full track? You're COMPLETELY wrong! I did an ART before hitting the big track and I had an absolutely GREAT time and then when I hit the full track, I wasn't worried and I already knew what I was doing so that was a real bonus. Frankly, you ride WAY harder on the kart track than on the full track because the turns are so much tighter. You'll be going slow enough that crashing doesn't mean totaling your bike or your gear but definitely fast enough to enjoy yourself. Honestly, its a FANTASTIC time out there.
There's an ART on Saturday, July 12th so if you really wanted to make it a weekend, you could do both days.

A decision has been made: it looks like I'm heading down for this one!!

I'll be hauling / staying with the guys from work but look forward to seeing and riding with everyone else on the track.

Re: MMP July 13th!

So I would really love to do some track days but was wondering what a typical weekend at the track costs? I mean everything too, like gas to get there, track admission, gas for the track, and all the other little things. How much do you guys usually end up spending for a weekend or how much do you budget? Probably won't make the 13th but would like to make some this year.

Re: MMP July 13th!

do you play power ball? Better start I'm sure these guys will tell you better since I don't really know, but theirs a link either on the home page or some where around here that eplains what track fees are alone, and whats mechanically required of your bike in order to get past inspection. Either way s__t ain't cheap by any means. Unless you win power ball or make decent money, wich I don't.

Re: MMP July 13th!

If anyone cares, I'm officially out for the July 13th track day.

After traveling to Utah for my wife's family reunion this weekend, I spent a LOT more money than I planned when the water pump went out in our ride on Sunday and we had to drop $250 for a tow and then another $350 for the parts and labor since I had no tools to do any of it myself. That pretty much killed the fun money for a while.

Just a side note. Correct me if I am wrong, but on your first track day, you have to ride C group? Nothing wrong with this, but if your thinking your going to go down there and smoke some "A" group a$$, you might have another think coming. I might also add that I give big props to all the C group riders that actually get out on the track!

I'll ask him Monday. It would be pretty difficult to get 5 people and bikes in one vehicle and trailer though.

I was thinking if one or 2 of them didn't have a ride or wanted to split. I wasn't thinking of fitting everyone in 1 truck. Also if they want to split a garage I'd do that.

Re: MMP July 13th!

I got a little done last night. Got the OEM plastics off, new tail on, and started drilling the upper. I fit the upper on and it seems to fit fine so I don't think there will be any issues. Should mount right up.

Matt and Sara where my pit crew taking on most of the fiber glass from the drilling. Thanks guys.

Water Wetter tonight.
