Will this pass tech?

I'm planning on trying to attend the MMP trackday on 10/12. Just wondering, will this pass tech or not? The previous owner laid it down, and it ground down the bottom of the crankcase cover.

I would think as long as it does not leak it would be fine, I do not know for sure, but will make sure Stubby or someone that would have a better idea checks the thread out and replies.

If it doesn't leak I would say grind it smooth and paint it. They'll probably never even notice it if you do it right. But I've never been to the track so I really couldn't tell you for sure.

Yeah, it'll pass. Its best if you have frame sliders to reduce the chance of hitting that same spot again though.

Cool, thanks. I do have frame sliders, and I'm pretty sure they were on when it went down as well, as that side slider is scuffed on the bottom, and the plastics aren't very damaged. The guy I bought it from said he hit some gravel coming round a corner at about 10mph.

Yeah, I'll probably do that. Sandpaper and a little paint = good as new.

So do I just sand down the scraped area and then use some high temp black paint on just that area, or sand and repaint the whole thing?

I take it I have to drain the oil before removing it? Which is fine cause I need to change my oil anyway.

Will I need to replace any seals gaskits if I remove it?

When I still had a stock stator cover on my F4i, I just sanded mine down a bit and cleaned it off then masked off the area around it and painted it still on the bike. I used some standard flat black paint and never had an issue.

Just sand the area to be painted then clean the rest real good and paint where needed. If you do want to do the whole thing then take the cover off. Drain the oil first. The gasket should be magnesium so as long as you don't bend it all to hell you'll be able to reuse it.
