I Ride: '02 GSXR 600 | Will this pass tech?
I'm planning on trying to attend the MMP trackday on 10/12. Just wondering, will this pass tech or not? The previous owner laid it down, and it ground down the bottom of the crankcase cover. |

If it doesn't leak I would say grind it smooth and paint it. They'll probably never even notice it if you do it right. But I've never been to the track so I really couldn't tell you for sure.

Yeah, it'll pass. Its best if you have frame sliders to reduce the chance of hitting that same spot again though.

I take it I have to drain the oil before removing it? Which is fine cause I need to change my oil anyway. Will I need to replace any seals gaskits if I remove it? | |

When I still had a stock stator cover on my F4i, I just sanded mine down a bit and cleaned it off then masked off the area around it and painted it still on the bike. I used some standard flat black paint and never had an issue.

Drain the oil first. The gasket should be magnesium so as long as you don't bend it all to hell you'll be able to reuse it.
