Firebird requirements??

I'm just about done breaking in the motor on my R1 and want to run a few passes at Firebird once I'm past the recommended mile requirement. What does Firebird require to run the quarter on a stock bike? Do I need a full set of leathers and race boots or can I get by with just my leather/textile jacket, a pair of jeans and regular shoes? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks,
Chris

chris, you will need full leathers if you run over 120 mph(which your bike will), also a snell 2000 or better helmet and leather boots that cover your ankles

Loopy and stubby make it a real drag. Make sure u bring a some food to sacrifice to the drag veterans. Haha it's a generaly good time unless ur bike doesn't run the way u want but that possibly only happens to me. Next time though next tear it's all about the E.T. Since I'm not worried about the 120 club anymore.

Thanks guys. I will swing by Cycle Gear tomorrow at lunch and see if I'm going to have to mortgage the house and sell my first born.

Stubby - I hooked up with Waldo this morning and tried on a set of size 46 leathers he had for sale. They were in good condition and seemed to fit OK in most places, but were a little too tight in the shoulder area. I'm 5'10", around 180 and wear a size 10 shoe if anyone else has something similar for sale.

R1Don or Loopy - Do I actually need a one piece suit or can I get away with a two piece? If two piece, do both pieces need to be full leather (no textile inserts) and are there any other special considerations (i.e., do they need to be able to zip together, etc.)?

Yes you can wear a 2 piece, but they do need to zip together. Also don't mix textile with leather. If you stay under 120, I guess you won't need to worry but why shut your 1k down... thats what 2nd gear?

If you make it to Firebird, have fun.

Coturi had a suit for sale, but I don't know if he still does. You are about the same height as us, but just weigh more. It might fit, but then again it might not. Guess it never hurts to try though.

as tubby said, no textile whatsoever. just get a "cheap" frank thomas suit and you will do just fine. i have a pair of joe rocket boots size 12, but that doesnt help you much
