So I know it's a little late to ask, but....

I'd like to get more info about getting some track time in. With the 10+yrs of riding i've been doing, i've never touched a track once...on my bike. The car, sure, but I'd imagine the adrenaline rush is 10x better on the bike. It's colder than tits out lately, so i'm assuming that no one is riding there anymore, but if they are, when and where do I go to come watch?

Thanks.

Why watch when you can participate? Track events are still scheduled. Check with Stubby or Lazy - www.idahosportbikes.com

I just signed up on ISB but haven't received the confirmation email so I can introduce myself and start posting.

EDIT - I followed a link to the forums. I'm reading their main page now about requirements, etc. Thanks.

Utah Sportbike Rentals rents leathers, helmet, boots, etc., and they are located at the track. I don't know what the prices are, but Chris is very helpful if you call or email.

It's in SLC?! Looks like my ass will be waiting till next season after all. That'll give me time to buy leathers, do the rear brakes, sync my TB's finally, etc. I don't feel like driving 6hrs just to watch. Sorry for the waste of a thread guys.

I don't think you will be seeing anything much closer than that. Don't know of any closer tracks.

Well, check between the sites, I am sure you will find something.

. Not only is it the closest, but it is also happens to be one of the best tracks in the country. It sounds like a long drive, but if you decided to watch, I think you'd get very excited about riding on the track.

So is anyone going this weekend then? I didn't realize that was the only track in the area along w/ being the closest, so I guess I shouldn't bitch. I thought there was something in town, but then again i've never even been to Firebird, so I had no clue.

I wouldn't be able to ride anyways...I didn't realize how un-track ready my bike is anyways. My front tire isn't bad, but it's probably due for a replacement. I don't think i'd be able to get the rear brake parts ordered and installed before the 10th. Even if I goto the stealership, I doubt they have much in the way of TL parts as is. I just went there yesterday for a rear master cylinder gasket (don't know how it and the cover disappeared) and it's a week out. Some of the links are broken on the ISB site, but i've been able to do lots of reading so at least I know what to buy now.

Civic? No Titan anymore? Isn't that the same thing you went to where you got all those car pics?

I'm a road trip whore...just finished driving from Boise, Reno, San Diego, Anaheim, Reno back to Boise...just to goto Seattle and back to Boise again the following weekend...all in 3 weeks. I've only got 1 rig that has a trailer hitch(POS), and i'd absolutely FREEZE my ass of riding down there this time of year.

I would do more asking questions on ISB. The website is under major reconstruction. Definatly atleast try to ride along or just go out there if you can swing it....you can actually learn alot about track days just by attending one and spectating if you want to....learning how a typical pit in and pit out goes, what flags mean what, what to expect from a tech inspection etc....you can also look at tires already on bikes to see what kind of tread life they are letting pass tech.....although i reccomend a fresh set with atleast 60% life at the least, but thats just my preference....anyhow...rideing or not its still worth being in the environment before actually doing one...either way you look at it.....

LOL...oh yeah, my front is far from 60% of anything. It's definately scrubbed in, but probably still due for a replacement. My rear is practically new.

I just finally got the email from the ISB site, but it still says it's waiting for a mod to approve me before I can post. I've taken my M5 to the track, but that was like 5yrs ago, so getting a brush up would always be good. I did read the sites info about flagging, tech inspection, etc. but it'd definately be better to see it in person again. I'm down for driving there http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave.../weekend/SLC:9 since it's not much different than here, but I can't tow anything so i'd be going alone...gay. Do people just go for the day or spend the whole weekend down there?

m5James - you are not logged on to ISB - that is your problem, it may seem like it but it does not show you online. try logging back in again.

Gas - 17mpg
Food - I'm fat, so that could be a lot
Sleep - I don't know why I keep thinking i'll just go for the day, but that's probably not gonna happen. At this rate, i'm just going to wait till next season, get the bike up to snuff and hopefully find some trailer room or take my own down there.
