OK I will help sponsor ya. I have a buck for ya. Do I get to put a sticker on your bike since I'm sponsoring you?

Sure, I'll kick in a buck too if you run these stickers on both sides of the bike:

Got a really good deal on the leathers, and darn that credit, was just too tempting. Although MMP is still out of reach for me right now.

I want to go. Need to make sure I can get the day off from work before I purchase the trackday. Would need a ride down there for me, the GF, and my bike though. Will put in some cash for gas. Need help changing out the anti-freeze for water wetter and whatever bike prep.

I'm a maybe. I have to get my dirt bike sold to pay for (most) of the mountain bike I ordered yesterday. If I can accomplish that time, I should be able to scrape together the funds for a track day.
Sadly, I haven't even gone for a single non-commuting motorcycle ride this season. I'll need to get some seat time in before hitting the track.

ORP is a really fun and very technical track with great elevation changes.
watch out for the 15mph knee dragging hairpin!
who is putting on that TD?

Very nice! That's a lot of travel--you must be doing some serious riding.

I'm still hoping to make it. Better not rain, though. I've done four trackdays in the rain this year and I'm done with rain.

For what I do locally, I'd surely be okay with a cross country bike 4" to 4.5" of travel but there are several trails here that can use the extra travel and I'm only 2 hours from Moab where there's a lot more trails with larger drops that need the travel.
A big part of my bike selection came down to choice of drive-train and braking components as well. Going SRAM X.7 / X.9 is a reaction to the annoying shifting on my current bike with lower end Shimano components.

And this IS on topic because riding a mountain bike is getting me in better shape for riding a motorcycle. I can also guarantee I'd be better on a dirt bike now than I was a year ago.

About 5.5 hours away in Tooele, Utah. Google "Miller Motorsports Park" and "Apex trackdays". Apex's site will list the exact requirements, but it's basically a bike in good working order, leathers that zip together at the waist (or a one-piece suit), and helmet/gloves/boots. Utah Sportbike Rentals has gear and bikes for rent if you need something.

Edit to add: 5.5 hours from Boise--not sure how far from GV. I'm sure somebody from the board can help you prepare and show you around the track.

Post up your sizes and you might be pleasently surprised by someone loaning you the gear needed to ride.

Basically the gear you'll need in a nutshell is, leather pants and leather jacket that zip together (or one piece suit), Riding boots, gauntlet gloves and a good helmet. don't think the bike has to be registered or insured as there are plenty of people who have track dedicated bikes that aren't legal to ride on the street, but are perfect for the track.

Just ask around, and maybe get to know some people at bike night and maybe you'll find what you need.

Also you can rent the gear you need when you get down there. The guy at Utah Sportbike Rentals is a super cool guy and is usually willing to wheel and deal and get you hooked up with whatever you need for a resonable price.

Damn all this talk about trackdays has got me jonsen...BAD!!!
