Daggett Creek?

How easy (or hard) is it to get to Daggett Creek trail from Bogus Basin? I was watching the install video for the Rekluse LHRB kit and at the end of the video there is some short footage of a nice trail. I emailed Rekluse for the location and they think it is Daggett Creek.

I Googled it and I think I can get there from Bogus but the article I found said the conditions can get sketchy during mid to late summer. Has anyone that has been there tell me about the conditions this time of year and give me some directions.

Thanks

Hey Travis,

I rode the length of Daggett Creek earlier this summer from the west trailhead which is off the main Boise Ridge rd. to the east trailhead which comes out onto Clear Creek rd.
I do have both trailheads as "placemarks" on my Google Earth and can send you the files if you like.

Got it Biker, thanks. No, I haven't ridden it. I was thinking a small road south was it, google earth has it named N. Eagleson Rd. So I need to ride Dagget still.

Same to you Travis, I'd like to go if you try it.

Yeah if you could send me the files that would be great.

I have only ridden Bogus twice. Once was with some people and I can't really remember exactly where we went. Sunday I went up by myself but just stayed on the main road because I didn't want to get lost and don't have a GPS.

How technical is the Daggett Creek trail? I don't do well with lots of rocky terrain or steep inclines.

If anyone wants to go Sunday morning let me know. I see there are almost endless places to explore. I need to keep the rides short because my stock tank is only 1.9 gallons.

There is no mistaking Dagget Creek when you get there. Let me know what you think of it. Last time I did it, I was on my GS1200.

I recall you telling us about that ride - an awesome dabbling-down-the stream adventure for the big beemer!

Travis - For what seems like a 1/2 mile or more, the trail rides through Daggett Creek and it is all large rocks, slippery-when-wet. There may not be much water at this time though. The rest of the trail can be overgrown at times but it does open up away from the creek in the hills. There are some short, twisty hill-climbs and nice singletrack.

James - The trailhead is probably 4-5 miles beyond Eagleson rd. when coming from 8th st. Eagleson rd. is also shown as FS 263 but when you reach near its end at Clearcreek rd. I've noticed it is signed FS 211....?

I'm game for Sunday, if it isn't to early in the morning.

That is a small @ss tank. Can you maybe fill up a condom so you have a reserve for your reserve? j/k

Yeah, pretty much the only thing that has changed on the CRF250X from 04-12 is the tank has gotten smaller. lol

If I go Sunday it probably won't be until 10:30-11:00. I went last Sunday about that time and the temp was really nice up there. Not sure if I will try to find Daggett Creek as it sounds a little beyond my newbie skill level but at least get up and go for a ride.

we rode daggett creek yesterday, single tracks are skectchy uphill due to loose dirt, less traction. going down it is good and going up the rocky creek is better. water is low. perfect enduro style riding.

The part of the trail they shot for the Rekluse video must be the only primo part of the trail from the sounds of it. lol

theres some good trails on that area, finding it is a little tricky. you have to go with someone that knows the trail.

Hey Skorch, I have a dirt bike Dolly for sale ($50). I used it for years on my RV. If you have a reciever hitch, you are in business.

I just got a hitch off Amazon and a DIY trailer from Harbor Freight. I probably have about $450 invested in both. Works great, I botched the wiring in my car so the trailer lights don't work but I haven't gotten pulled over yet. lol

thanks for the offer but i think that I'm better off doing the trailer because i never go alone so ill need at least room for two bikes.

Unloading 8th St at 12:30 on Sunday for my new bikes first ride. Will incorporate Humpty and Daggot. Faster group so if your new bring a buddy to keep pace with.

I should make a new tread. Ok I will.

Sounds like good times. I'll probably head up to Bogus Sunday. It's an easier drive in my little car.

You can get to silver creek in a car. If you are new, stay off trail 26 (base of summit to deadwood) that is not a good/easy trail. I have video for a few miles of that. Lots of steep rocky climbs. A few sections you will scrap going up.

Trail 28 which goes from peace creek to dead wood is 11 miles and not too bad until you come back. Remember if your wheel is spinning, you aren't moving. Those trails right now are very loose, and the summit to boulder creek is closed for construction. They killed a good single track trail and is now a atv trail.... the technical boulder drops have been removed. I'm not sure when those were removed as I haven't been up there for like 15+ years.

I would recommend trail 32 for a short ride. It starts shortly before the summit before you get to silver creek. Fun little ride. Everything else is lame ATV trails aka old logging roads (which have some fun jumps though).

Also right now there are stage 1 fire restrictions. No camp fires unless in a specified camp ground - check the US Forest service site for which camp grounds these are. Smoking is also a no go outside of a vehicle and they are monitoring this fairly well.

Will be playing in the mountains this weekend but if you want to see what any of those trails are like, I can show you video.
