I Ride: The Armageddon bike, Orange Crush, Panagale Tricolor | I'm not quick to judge on this one. Everyone reacts differently to trauma. I was in Seattle in 1998, pulling up to a red light on Aurora when the car behind me decided to pass me, clearly not aware of the red light in front of me. They T boned a 2 ton delivery truck going at least 50, right in the middle of the intersection. I left my car at the light and ran to the scene to see if I could help. The roof of the car had come almost completely off. There were three people in the car, and the carnage was the most horrific thing I've ever seen. No one survived that. They had either come apart or were compressed into the wrackage. The truck driver was banged up but still conscious so I chatted with him and made him stay in the truck to wait for 5-0 and rescue to get there. I talked with a cop for a good hour after that, hoping I could find some good coping advice. I decided to act as if it didn't really happen, or as if it was all part of a normal day. But the sights, smells, sounds... those stick with me to this day. That would have been me asking: "Hows your mom?"
